The island

Skiathos, paradise of the Aegean

An island of the Sporades with more than sixty beaches, a lively town and a wild, unexplored north.

Classic Style Villa: the terrace sofa with the sea and hills beyond

Skiathos is an island of the Sporades in the Aegean, the home of the Greek writer Alexandros Papadiamantis. It lies just 2.4 miles from the coast of south Pelion and 4 miles from Skopelos, with an area of 48 square kilometres, 12 km long and 9 km wide.

The south of the island is well developed for visitors, while the north remains wild and unexplored. Skiathos town, the only busy part of the island, sits on the sheltered south-eastern tip, with the Bourtzi peninsula right in the middle of its harbour. Above the old harbour, the older neighbourhoods rise like an amphitheatre of stone houses side by side, along narrow stone-paved paths called kalderimia.

More than sixty beaches line the island: Megali Ammos, Vasilias, Achladies, Sklithri, Kanapitsa, Vromolimnos, Kolios, Agia Paraskevi, Troulos, Maratha, Banana, Agia Eleni, Mandraki, Elias, Aselinos, Kechria, Tsougrias and Lalaria are only some of them. Koukounaries, the most famous, has been named the third best beach in the Mediterranean.

Whether you want excitement or calm and quiet, the island offers comfort of a high standard.
